The U.S. Department of Justice provides federal information and resources concerning Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons. The MMIP initiative supports coordination among Tribal, federal, state, and local agencies and provides information about federal efforts to improve investigations, strengthen communication, and address unresolved cases affecting Indigenous communities.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation works with Tribal, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to investigate missing-person cases, homicides, and other violent crimes involving Indigenous people. Its MMIP resources provide information about ongoing federal efforts, unresolved cases, public assistance in locating missing individuals, and ways to submit information that may help investigators.

Investigating missing and murdered cases in Indian Country.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs Missing and Murdered Unit works to analyze and solve missing, murdered, and human-trafficking cases involving American Indians and Alaska Natives. The unit works with Tribal, federal, state, and local law enforcement, reviews unresolved cases, coordinates investigative resources, and provides services to victims and families.
BIA Missing and Murdered Cases; The BIA maintains an official searchable Missing and Murdered Cases page. It includes individual case profiles, photographs authorized for release, status, last-known location, investigating agency, and ways to submit tips.
National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls
Honouring the truths of families and survivors and examining the causes of violence against Indigenous women and girls.
Canada's National Inquiry gathered testimony from families, survivors, Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, experts, and officials to examine the systemic causes of violence against Indigenous women and girls. Its work culminated in the 2019 final report, Reclaiming Power and Place, which contains 231 Calls for Justice and extensive information about the experiences of families and survivors.
